Epic Business Events: European Cities That Should Be on Your Travel Radar

satellite-dish-lamit-hubOverseas business events pose some particular challenges: conference space, hotel space, travel arrangements. But it is all worth it with the camaraderie that is built during a fun, exotic week abroad, filled with both business and pleasure.

Europe offers some of the most exciting cities to organize business events in. With help from the GoEuro travel planner, any business can hold an event that promises a job well done without breaking the bank.

Frankfurt, Germany

Frankfurt is Europe’s largest financial center and long-considered an excellent city for business events.

The city is filled with hotels and conference spaces and its modern infrastructure allows travelers to get where they are going quickly and efficiently. TheMesse Frankfurt Convention Center is the largest in the city, able to accommodate up to 3,400 guests, so businesses big and small can find the space they need. Air travel is not a problem either, with 17 international airports serving the city.

When there’s down time, Frankfurt also has a rich cultural heritage that is displayed in its many museums, including 10 buildings that sit along the banks of the Main River. Stroll down Scoffer’s Street for some of the finest dining in the city or find one of Frankfurt’s many centrally located nightclubs.

Milan, Italy

Milan may be known as the capital of fashion, but the Italian city is also very business-friendly. With an updated infrastructure and ideal location, Milan is quickly becoming a go-to city for overseas business events.

With nearly 1,000 hotel in and around the city, there should be no problem finding a venue than can affordably accommodate any business, large or small. The Milano Congressi is a spectacle to behold and is the largest convention center in Europe, hosting hundreds of large events each year.

Milan also has plenty of restaurants, bars and nightclubs offer a break from conferences and meetings, but the more adventurous can try an “Escape Game.” These are live-action games where participants must solve mysteries and work together to escape a room they are trapped in. Sounds like a great team-building exercise!

Barcelona, Spain

Situated on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona offers a side of sun and sand to go along with business events. Since the 1992 Summer Olympics, the city has undergone an extensive remodeling of its infrastructure, including an updated Metro and new venues for events large and small.

Barcelona has one of the highest-rated beaches in the world, Barceloneta Beach, and several other beaches await any traveler who needs to relax and soak up some rays between meetings.

The city also has everything covered when it comes to cuisine and culture. Take a stroll down the La Rambla, a tree-lined marketplace that has food both local and foreign, or join one of the many walking tours that explore the city’s history and heritage.

Sure, overseas business trips can be difficult, but the experience and team-building that is gained makes them an interesting alternative to those boring local conferences.
